SENIOR’S RESOURCE FAIR 2005

The 18th annual Senior’s Resource Fair held June 4, 2005 at the City Hall Atrium was a huge success. Our goal was to attract 105, our actual was 109 booths. Our theme was “Saluting Alberta’s Centennial”. We had a booth from Fort Calgary displaying information on the past 100 years. A new feature this year was the pilot project - Senior’s Recognition Program. A community group requested the support of CC-AAG to undertake this project. The program was a wonderful addition to the SRF and will continue for the 2006 year. The Planning committee for the awards program is organized and continues with this specific project.

A small yet energetic SRF planning committee consisting of board members and volunteers were keen to make this fair a success and we did. We met monthly and were aggressive to seek out new booth holders. The advertising plan was enhanced intending to attract interested individuals and to increase public awareness.

The key committee responsibilities include:

Registration
Marketing/Media
Logistics/Media/Public relations
Treasury/Banners
Volunteers/Evaluations
50/50 Draw/Entertainment/Speakers
Loading Dock/Booth support

In addition, we had a number of volunteers for the day who were responsible for:

Photography
Attendance Counters
Booth support/relief

The booth prices were seen as reasonable:

Not for profit $90.00
Business 155.00

Entertainment was varied. A special attraction was the Hersey chocolate mascot distributing “Hugs and Kisses”.

Evaluations were provided to booth holders and the public. Some excellent feedback and ideas were received. This information will be reviewed by the committee to enhance/improve the 2006 Fair.

We are recruiting Planning committee members for the 2006 SRF. If you are interested, please call 618-2227 or email fair@ccaag.com.
